But here is a relevant revelation from my birthday- on days that start out very poorly, miracles still happen (in sizes XS thru XXL), and the goal of life might just be to invest every scrap of time and ounce of energy in an attempt to notice them (especially the tiny ones).
And so, I give you 37 things- a small anthology of miracles. I foresee this being an ongoing project, pieced together to return to and return to and return to, whenever I need a reminder of how miraculous** my little existence is.

At the age of 25 months, my daughter sings full versions of songs.
The first peony in the garden opened on my birthday.
For roughly one week of my life, I dreamed entirely in Spanish.
At some point, your brain and my brain captured and stored a first memory.
I have a recurring dream about the tug from a lifeguard lifting my five year old body from the deep end.
My newborn was put on my chest and immediately began searching for a nipple.
I witnessed said newborn reach the age of two, then run full-bore along the beach, without falling.
